FM Logistic has launched a new groupage service connecting Poland with the Baltic states. The expansion of its network reflects the growing importance of the Via Baltica transport corridor, which is becoming one of the most important logistics arteries connecting Central Europe with the Baltic Sea region.

The Baltic states are an important market for Polish manufacturers and distributors. Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia are natural economic partners for us due to their geographical proximity and the ties resulting from the European Union’s single market. Particularly strong relations connect Poland with Lithuania. Poland is one of its most important trading partners, accounting for over 10 percent of Lithuanian exports and 14 percent of imports.

The region’s transport infrastructure is a key factor in fostering economic cooperation. The Via Baltica road corridor, part of the European TEN-T transport network, plays a key role here. The modernization of road infrastructure along this route has significantly improved the capacity and predictability of road transport, which fosters the development of logistics connections. For logistic operators, this means the opportunity to establish stable and fast transport services between Central European markets and the Baltic countries. From the perspective of companies operating in the region, this in turn presents an opportunity for a more efficient flow of goods and shorter delivery times.

Road transport plays a key role in trade relations with the Baltic states. Eurostat data show that Poland is among the most important countries in the European road transport market, accounting for nearly 20% of transport performance in the EU measured in ton-kilometers. At the same time, approximately 64% of shipments carried out by Polish carriers are international routes, which highlights the importance of road infrastructure connecting the countries of the region – emphasizes Mariusz Bala, Director of International Grupage at FM Logistic.

Groupage Transport: A Response to Market Needs

The Baltic markets remain a stable destination for Polish companies and have generated steady demand for goods exported from Poland for years. The growing scale of trade, as well as the state of infrastructure in the region, are conducive to the development of groupage transport. More and more companies are opting for solutions that enable more frequent shipments of smaller batches of goods, which allows them to better align deliveries with current demand and increase supply chain flexibility.

As part of the new groupage line, we offer daily departures, which increases the predictability of deliveries and facilitates the planning of logistics processes. Transit time is 2 business days for Lithuania and Latvia, and 3 days for Estonia. Such solutions help companies manage inventory more efficiently and respond more quickly to changes in demand. The new transport line thus strikes a balance between delivery speed and cost optimization and provides important support for companies expanding their operations in the Baltic Sea region – adds Mariusz Bala.

FM Logistic customers can also use digital tools to support transport process management. Orders can be placed online via the MySCM platform, and system integration is possible through EDI or API solutions. Customers also have access to the Track & Trace system, which allows them to monitor shipments in real time. For more complex logistics operations, dedicated customer service specialists provide support.

FM Logistic’s launch of a new groupage line to the Baltic countries is a continuation of its consistently implemented strategy to develop its international groupage network. This is the third route launched this year; slightly earlier, the operator began regular groupage deliveries to Austria and Germany.
