Efficient factory logistics for GROHE

The client

Our customer

GROHE is a leading global brand offering comprehensive bathroom and kitchen solutions. As a global manufacturer, the company places great emphasis on operational efficiency and the ability to respond quickly to rapidly growing market demand. GROHE expects its logistics provider to ensure full integration with manufacturing processes, flexibility in managing component inventory, and the highest safety standards when handling high-value-per-unit products.

The challenge

The main challenge was to create a model that would enable GROHE to increase production of flushing systems without undertaking costly infrastructure expansions or tying up capital in new facilities.

The project required the design of factory logistics in which the operator becomes an integral part of the production line to minimise the material flow path.

The key challenge lay in ensuring supply continuity within a just-in-time model, while also managing seasonal demand peaks and the storage of goods requiring special supervision, such as batteries and aerosols.

Our contribution

  • #Warehousing

In response to these needs, an integrated logistics and manufacturing ecosystem operating under one roof has been implemented at the FM Logistic platform in Tomaszów Mazowiecki.

This model is based on two dedicated warehouse zones – one for components and one for finished products – which are physically separated from the production area managed directly by the GROHE team. which enables real-time transmission of component orders and eliminates excess inventory. In addition, FM Logistic has implemented advanced security systems, including automated pallet securing and additional camera monitoring in the distribution zone, to protect high-value goods.

Our solutions

Results and operating data

The partnership between FM Logistic and GROHE has resulted in the development of a flexible operational model that maintains production stability, even when plans change suddenly. By positioning the storage area close to the production line, the risk of downtime has been eliminated and logistics costs have been optimised.

The implemented safety solutions have minimised the risk of quantity-related complaints and product damage. This partnership has proven that conducting production processes outside the main factory provides the manufacturer with the desired scalability and allows for proactive problem-solving through the synergy of both companies’ experienced teams.

FAQ

  • How can production processes be optimised without expanding the factory?

An effective solution is the factory logistics model, which is implemented by a logistics provider. By outsourcing some assembly processes to an external logistics centre, a company can increase production without investing in new land or warehouse facilities. In the case of the partnership between FM Logistic and GROHE, this approach allowed the customer to flexibly manage increases in demand while maintaining full control over quality.

  • Is outsourcing production processes to a logistics provider safe?

Yes, it is, provided that IT systems are fully integrated and clear quality procedures are in place. Our cooperation with GROHE shows that logistics operator can become an extension of our customers’ production lines. Sharing resources and expertise minimises operational risks and gives the manufacturer a level of flexibility that rigid in-house infrastructure cannot provide.

  • What is factory logistics, and what benefits does it offer manufacturers?

Factory logistics involves fully integrating warehouse operations with production or assembly stages. The main benefit is that the supply chain is shortened as much as possible and unnecessary transport between the component warehouse and the production line is eliminated. This enables a reduction in buffer stock and a quicker response to changes in production plans, which is vital in highly seasonal industries.
