The Châlons site received its 1st pallet on 9 May 2007 when Cora, one of FM Logistic's historic clients, based until then on the Longueil-Sainte-Marie site in the Oise, moved in; the platform then consisted of 5 buildings.
At the beginning of March this year, 3 new buildings were built for a new client on the site, Ecolab.
With the arrival of Ecolab, this platform became a standard FM Logistic site, that is to say it became multi-client and multi-activity, thereby enabling it to offer personalised flow handling solutions to both retailers and manufacturers. Moreover, the specificity of the Châlons site is that it is a SEVESO Upper Tier site; this means that the platform is able to store and handle a certain number of "classified goods" such as acids, inflammable goods, aerosols or oxidants, while guaranteeing a high degree of safety for the local environment.
The Châlons site has an extremely large development potential as only 8 buildings have been built so far, out of a potential total of 18.
The platform manager, Philippe Guerin, points out that "the 185 people working on the site all followed, as soon as they joined us, an individualised training path to meet the clients' specific needs. This training path reflects the importance that the company places on the personal development of its employees and illustrates the capacity of our teams to evolve and adapt to keep up with the regular growth in our business".
On the occasion of the inauguration, Eric Decroix, General Manager, France, described the range of services FM Logistic France offers, setting out their characteristics, the advantages that set the firm apart from the competition, the company's human resources and some key figures.
For his part, Jean-Christophe Machet, Co-CEO of the FM Logistic group, added that "the opening of a new site is like a birth, a time for hope and looking to the future and its promise. At Châlons-en-Champagne these promises have been kept thanks to our contacts and cooperation with the local authorities, our partnership with our clients, Cora and Ecolab and to the construction of a team of employees who are both committed and effective."
